Pensacola, FL., June 15, 2010 — HomeRun Holdings Corporation., today announced it has completed its acquisition of Techniku Inc., a Broomfield, Co. based manufacturer of automation solutions for interior window coverings and windows.

Electric curtains provide luxury and convenience with simple and easy to use controls and are appropriate for homes and businesses. Motorized curtain rails can operate a drape covering a screen in your home theater, or a motorized blackout roll up shade can open automatically in the morning to wake you up. Basically, a motorized window covering does everything your standard blinds, curtains, and shades to but a motor operates the mechanisms for you at your command using various control devices.

How are Electric Curtains and Other Systems Powered?

Electric curtain tracks have motors that are powered usually by either a line voltage input or low voltage system. Using some sort of 24V AC adapter from the electricity in your home, a line voltage system is a great option for plugging right into a wall socket or having an electrician wire it for you. Low voltage systems are usually quieter and can be more expensive, but are far more common in set-ups with more than one window covering. Low voltage window coverings tie into home automation systems quite easily. Roll up shades, or roller shades, can be battery powered and run on long lasting lithium batteries. There are many companies in the field, and each has products that have their own drawbacks and advantages. Any motorized shade or curtain from Lutron, BTX Automated, MechoShade, Somfy, or Goelst is going to be made well, with good support and a decent warranty. Outside of the US, Silent Gliss systems are also of top quality. Low cost generic systems made in China are very affordable, but generally should be avoided as they are simply not in the same class as products from the companies mentioned.

Where Can I Buy Electric Curtains?

This is a specialty market and local department stores won’t carry what you need. Look in your local phone directory or do an internet search for motorized window coverings for resellers in your area. Most companies who sell these also install as well and they can usually give you a quote right away.
